POSITION VACANT - FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference is seeking dedicated and conscientious person to fill the position of Financial Accountant.  Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for administering the daily accounting services of the General Secretariat of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference offices.  This is a full-time position based in Braddon, ACT.

As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining financial systems and processes
  • Providing monthly, annual and long-term management reports
  • Day-to-day processing of transactions
  • Administering accounts receivable and accounts payable systems
  • Overseeing cash and cash investment programs
  • Administering the fixed assets register and monthly depreciation
  • Maintaining the lease register
  • Developing policies and procedures for management of financial functions

You will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in accounting or a related discipline
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in financial reporting
  • A good understanding and knowledge current AASB Accounting Standards
  • High-level skills in financial analysis and modelling  
  • The ability to work within a defined budget
  • The ability to work in a small team
