Education and Faith Formation have hit the spotlight in the Archdiocese of Perth this week with the appointment of Fr Vincent Glynn as Episcopal Vicar and a member of the Curia.

In announcing the role, Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB said the decision came after considerable prayer, reflection and consultation.

“This role represents a further commitment by myself and the Archdiocese to supporting and further developing the education and faith formation ministries of the Archdiocese,” Archbishop Costelloe said.

61-year-old Fr Glynn is currently Senior Lecturer in Sacramental Theology at the Fremantle campus of the University of Notre Dame Australia.

Speaking to The Record, Fr Glynn said that for him, education and faith formation are two significant aspects in the life of the Archdiocese.

“I look forward to supporting education and faith formation within the Archdiocese,” Fr Glynn said.

“From my perspective, this new role will be a unique opportunity where I hope I will be able to assist the Archbishop in continuing to prioritise and enhance faith formation for all people who are seeking the presence of God in their life,” he said.

Although this appointment will come into effect immediately, Fr Glynn will continue his full-time teaching commitments within the School of Theology and Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame for the remainder of Semester 1, 2020.

From Wednesday 1 July 2020, Fr Vincent will commence in his new role on a full-time basis and will be based within the Office of the Archbishop at Griver House.

“I invite you to join with me in welcoming Fr Vincent to this new role by offering him our prayerful support,” Archbishop Costelloe concluded.

A special interview with Fr Vincent Glynn will feature in next week’s edition of The eRecord.
