Founded by St Teresa of Avila in 1562 in Avila, Spain. Introduced to Australia in the Archdiocese of Sydney from Angouleme, France, by Cardinal Patrick Moran in 1885. First WA monastery founded at Nedlands from Sydney in 1935.
