Two Respected Priests of the Archdiocese Return to their Lord

The past two weeks have sadly seen the passing of two well known and respected priests of the Archdiocese of Perth, Father Brian Harris and Father Daniel Foley.

On the occasion of their deaths, Archbishop Costelloe, Archbishop Emeritus Hickey, Bishop Sproxton and the priests of the Archdiocese paid the following tributes:

Fr Brian Harris RIP

A tribute to the life and ministry of Father Brian Harris who passed away on Wednesday 2 May 2012 at Little Sisters of the Poor, Glendalough.

Following ordination to the priesthood on 25 July 1953, Fr Harris was appointed Assistant Priest at St Mary’s Cathedral and Chaplain to Royal Perth Hospital. This was followed by appointments in the parishes of Shenton Park, Kalgoorlie, Osborne Park, South Perth, Armadale and Spearwood. In 1984 he was appointed Parish Priest of East Victoria Park, where he served until his retirement in 2010.
 
In 2009, Fr Harris was honoured with the Papal Award Croce pro Ecclesia et Pontifice in recognition of his apostolic work for the Church throughout more than 50 years of priesthood.
 
Fr Harris will be remembered for a life of generous and faithful service in the Archdiocese of Perth, for which we are most grateful.

Fr Daniel Foley RIP

A tribute to the life and ministry of Father Dan Foley who passed away peacefully on Monday 7 May 2012 at Little Sisters of the Poor, Glendalough.

Following ordination to the priesthood on 6 August 1955, Fr Foley served in the parishes of Leederville, Subiaco, Kensington, Nedlands, Kambalda, Attadale, and Osborne Park, with his last appointment being that of Parish Priest at Lockridge in 1991. He continued in residence at Lockridge until he moved to Little Sisters of the Poor in 2010.
 
In 2009, Fr Foley was honoured with the Papal Award Croce pro Ecclesia et Pontifice in recognition of his apostolic work in the local Church throughout more than 50 years of priesthood.
 
Fr Foley will be remembered for a life of generous and faithful service in the Archdiocese of Perth, for which we are most grateful.
