Auxiliary Bishop Don Sproxton, Episcopal Vicar for Strengthening and Revitalising Parishes has last month launched a new resource developed by the Office of Parish Renewal.

The resources, which consist of three videos and a booklet for use by Parish Pastoral Councils, highlight the main points from the formation sessions held in the Archdiocese between 2022-2023 and have been produced in conjunction with the Archdiocesan Communications Office.

Parish Renewal Co-ordinator Fr Nino Vinciguerra explained that the Parish Renewal team, with the support of Bishop Sproxton, has given much attention to the formation of Parish Pastoral Councils as leaders in the parish community.

The resources, Fr Nino continued, will be a useful tool for Pastoral Councils to help them understand more clearly the nature and role of their ministry.

“It also explores the benefits of Parish Hubs, a collaborative pastoral model pioneered by the Archdiocese, which prepares parishes to work together on initiatives and share their resources,” Fr Nino said.

“The resource book that accompanies the videos outlines how they can be used. Each video is broken up into one-to-two-minute segments, making them ideal for a discussion and formation time at pastoral council meetings,” he said.

Bishop Sproxton reinforced his support for the resources, which are fully accessible on the Parish Renewal website.

Bishop Sproxton continued by saying he highly recommended use of the resources to all Parish Pastoral Councils members, especially those that are newly elected.

“I express my thanks to parish pastoral councillors for the vital role they have in assisting their parish priest in developing parish life to its full potential,” Bishop Don said.

“And I look forward to the next video series to further assist Parish Pastoral Councils in their work of assisting Parish Priests in creating vibrant parishes,” he said.
