ADVISOR, PARISH WORKPLACE SAFETY

Permanent, Full-Time

The Advisor, Parish Workplace Safety, provides workplace safety (“safety”) knowledge, advice, and support to Parishes in the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth in order to to ensure safe work practices compliant to all applicable, regulatory requirements and best practices. This role involves all aspects of safety risk management, emergency planning and safety incident management. You will collaborate with the key contacts to improve safety initiatives and promote safety standards and their application in the workplace. This includes the implementation, maintenance, monitoring and further development of a workplace safety framework for the Parishes. A key element will be visiting of Clergy at all Parishes, and requires travel within the Archdiocese across 3-4 days per week.

The role works in collaboration with the Advisor, Workplace Safety, in its responsibility to assure compliance with workplace safety requirements across all areas of the Archdiocese organisation.

The successful candidate must have a willingness and capacity to support the Catholic ethos. They will have:

  • Diploma or Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety
  • Knowledge of the current Work Health & Safety Act 2020 and regulations
  • Experience in collation of Work Health & Safety data collection and reporting, conducting workplace inspections and liaising with WorkSafe
  • Demonstrated ability to keep up to date on new and upcoming State legislation pertaining to Work Health and Safety laws
  • Ability to develop conceptually stable solutions and experience with project management, including implementation, to assure desired results are met
  • Project management skills
  • Experience in facilitating group training courses/content, presentations and employee events
  • An understanding of the role and structures of the Catholic Church
  • Ablility to engage a large group of stakeholders at different levels
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity, tact, and confidentiality
  • Ability and capacity to travel throughout the Archdiocese boundaries
  • Valid and current Western Australian ‘C’ Driver’s licence

A valid National Police Clearance, WA Driver’s Licence, proof of Right to Work in Australia required.
