First Anniversay of Cathedral Opening
Article and Photographs by Fr R Cross
The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary saw the Archbishop celebrate the first anniversary of the completion and dedication of St Mary's Cathedral.
The Mass commenced at 7:30pm was concelebrated by Archbishop Hickey, Msgr Keating and a visiting priest from Galway.
At the conclusion of the Mass, the faithful joined in with the Novena to the Blessed Virgin Mary before a statue set up in the sanctuary. The Mass was enhanced with the voices of the Cathedral choir who after Mass celebrated their first year in the new Cathedral with the cutting of a cake.
