On the release of the news that the Most Reverend Anthony Fisher OP is to become the next Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB of Perth said:
"I join with many others in welcoming the news that the Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP has been selected by Pope Francis to be the ninth Archbishop of Sydney.
"I believe that the many life experiences and extensive studies undertaken by Archbishop-Elect Fisher will serve him well as he returns to his home archdiocese.
"I wish him well as he takes up the role of ministering to the people of Sydney, helping them to come ever closer to experiencing the tenderness and mercy of our loving heavenly Father.”
