Ensuring the safety of children, young people and vulnerable adults are protected within the Church at all times, is the mission of all Safeguarding Officers in surrounding Churches in the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth.
For their dedication and commitment, Safeguarding Officers across the Archdiocese will be recognised at a special Safeguarding Mass at 11am on Sunday 29 April.
Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB will be leading the celebrations set to take place at St Mary’s Cathedral.

Perth Archdiocese Safeguarding Director Andrea Musulin said that this will be the first time the Churches in Perth are dedicating a Mass to the cause.
“We feel it is important to promote awareness on Safeguarding in the Archdiocese and to acknowledge the inspirational work of our 250 Safeguarding Officers who are working in their parishes.”
“We have a lot to be grateful for, because without these officers who offer an outstanding commitment to their work, there would not be a Safeguarding program in place,” she said.
Mrs Musulin had recently released an informative parent handbook under the Safeguarding Program called Protecting God’s Children - A Catholic Parent’s Guide to Keeping their Kids Safe.
The free guide lends the Church’s perspective on how parents can help protect their child’s personal, physical and emotional well-being, in accordance with the Church teachings.
