VERY REVEREND FR VINCENT GLYNN
Episcopal Vicar for Education and Faith Formation

Fr Vincent Glynn was born in 1958. He is the eldest of the six children of Maureen & Thomas Glynn. He attended early primary school firstly at Our Lady of Lourdes Nollamara and then was a foundation student of the new parish of St Gerard Majella, Mirrabooka. His family was actively involved in the foundation and development of this new parish and parish school along with the foundation Parish Priest Fr Peter Quinn, later Bishop Quinn. For upper primary and secondary education, he attended CBHS Highgate run by the Christian Brothers. He graduated from school in 1975.

In 1976 began studying at the diocesan seminary St Charles Seminary Guildford WA. At the end of that year St Charles was closed and from 1977-1982 he completed his priestly training at St Francis Xavier Seminary, Adelaide SA. He was ordained a Deacon in the Chapel of St Francis Xavier Seminary by Bishop Foley of the Geraldton Diocese. This was his first ordination as a Bishop. He was ordained a priest in December 1982 by Archbishop Goody in St Mary’s Cathedral, Perth.  After parish appointments to the city parishes of Carlisle and Leederville and country parish of Kalgoorlie / Boulder, Archbishop Foley sent him in 1988 to Rome for further studies. In 1991, he completed a Licentiate in Sacramental Theology from the Pontificio Anteneo San Anselmo, Rome. On his return from studies, he was assistant priest at Highgate and then Parish Priest of the Parish of Holy Name Embleton and chaplain to Trinity College for 5 years. He also began lecturing at St Charles Seminary and the Catholic Institute of WA and the University of Notre Dame Australia. Fr Vincent was the Director of the Maranatha Institute for Adult Faith Education from 1999 - 2005. Lecturer for Catholic Institute of WA from 2006 - 2009, lecturing at Edith Cowan and Curtin Universities.  From 2009 to 2020, he was a Senior Lecturer in Sacramental Theology at Notre Dame University, Fremantle. In 2011, Fr Vincent completed and was awarded a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle. Fr Vincent was the co-editor of the journal Pastoral Liturgy, a national liturgical resource from 2014 - 2020. He was resident priest in the parish of Floreat/Wembley from 1994 - 2013, assisting with Masses and pastoral work within the parish.

He is the Presbyter for the 4th Neocatechumenal Community of St Gerard’s Mirrabooka Parish celebrating the Liturgy of the Word and the Eucharist for the community each week.  For 12 years, he has also assisted the Monday night Morley Personal Advocacy group celebrating the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Penance for and with them. He is a member of the Professional Standards Resource Group for the Province of WA. Theological Advisor to the CEWA for Religious Education materials. Currently he is the Archbishop’s member on the Council of John XXIII College, Mt Claremont. He is currently a member of the Council of Priests for the Archdiocese of Perth in the role of Deputy Chair.

In 2020 Archbishop Costelloe SDB appointed Fr Vincent as the Episcopal Vicar for Education and Faith Formation and a member of the Curia of the Archdiocese of Perth.
