Archbishop Announces Livestreaming of Holy Week and Easter Ceremonies
Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement today that Churches and other places of worship can livestream services to the community. The Prime Minister said this would ensure that religious services, including Easter services, remain accessible to congregations. National Cabinet agreed that providing access to services is important for a sense of continuity and social connection.
Archbishop Costelloe said: “As the Perth Catholic community is being encouraged to participate in the Holy Week and Easter ceremonies from the safety of their own homes, the announcement today means that we can, within the stated guidelines, livestream Easter ceremonies so everyone may share in these joyous celebrations…even though by necessity, we must remain physically separated at this time.
It is faith which binds us together, and I hope every member of our Catholic family will join me ‘online’ from their homes as we livestream Easter from St Mary’s Cathedral, Perth” said Archbishop Costelloe.
The Archbishop will celebrate the following Holy Week and Easter ceremonies via livestreaming:
Sunday 5 April, 2020 | Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord | Time: 11:00 AM |
Thursday 9 April, 2020 | Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper - Holy Thursday | Time: 07.00 PM |
Friday 10 April, 2020 | Celebration of the Passion of the Lord - Good Friday | Time: 03.00 PM |
Saturday 11 April, 2020 | Easter Vigil Mass | Time: 06.00 PM |
Sunday 12 April 2020 | Easter Sunday Mass | Time: 11.00 AM |
These will be streamed to the Archdiocese of Perth’s website, Facebook and YouTube.
